FIJI AND CZARNIKOW GROUP MEET TO EXPLORE EXPANSION OF FIJI’S MARKET REACH AND DIVERSIFICATION FOR HIGHER PROFITABILITY

The Minister for Multi-Ethnic Affairs and Sugar Industry, Hon. Charan Jeath Singh, is currently attending the 33rd International Sugar Organization Council seminar in London as an ISO member.

While in London, he met the Directors of Czarnikow Group, a global leader in sugar trade and value-added products like ethanol, to discuss possibilities of expanding Fiji’s market reach and diversifying its product offerings to secure higher prices and better profitability for farmers.

Czarnikow Group has had a historical relationship with Fiji for over a century, tracing back to the era of the Colonial Sugar Refining and continuing through the Fiji Sugar Corporation (FSC).

While acknowledging the significance of this partnership, Minister Singh highlighted Fiji’s priorities and objectives that are vibrant for the betterment of hard working sugarcane farmers and the sugar industry.

Recognising the partnership between Fiji and Czarnikow, Minister Singh stated that the focus right now is on the future of the FSC and Czarnikow to secure the best deal for sugarcane farmers to ensure they receive the best for their hard work.

He further alluded to Czarnikow the pathway and Fiji Government’s plan for the sugar industry on exploring new markets for sugar and value-added products. 

This also included FSC’s plans and focus on expanding Fiji’s sugar export market access to secure better and more favourable prices for sugarcane farmers in the future.

The Directors of the Czarnikow Group assured their commitment and continued support for FSC, giving insight into competitive market opportunities for Fiji.
