FIJI AND KAZAKHSTAN SEEK TO STRENGTHEN BILATERIAL TIES

The bilateral cooperation between Fiji and Kazakhstan is expected to soar to greater heights in the areas of trade, tourism and economic development. 

This follows Fiji’s Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China, and Non-Resident Ambassador to the Republic of Kazakhstan, Manasa Tagicakibau presenting his credentials to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, H.E Kassym-Jomart Tokayev at the Presidential Palace “Akorda” in Nur-Sultan.
 
Ambassador Tagicakibau conveyed the well wishes and appreciation of the people of Fiji to the Government of Kazakhstan and its people. He said that there is potential for trade and investment partnerships given Kazakhstan is known as the Central Asia’s economic powerhouse and is the main producer of oil, gas, and mineral resources.
 
Ambassador Tagicakibau thanked Kazakhstan for supporting Fiji’s presidency at COP23 and he alluded to solidarity and spirit of cooperation being important to tackling the impacts of climate change. 
 
H.E President Tokayev reaffirmed Kazakhstan’s commitment to advance the sustainable development aspirations of both the nations through enhanced political dialogues, trade and investment exchanges.
 
A meeting was also held between Ambassador Tagicakibau and the First Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs Mukhtar Tileuberdi and Minister for Foreign Affairs Beibut Atamkulov, to discuss the bilateral cooperation between Fiji and Kazakhstan.
 
Potential areas of partnership is aimed at promoting Fiji’s tourism industry, enhancing flight routes between two countries and exploring engagements in areas of agriculture, commerce, and people-people networking.
 
Ambassador Tagicakibau is the 2nd Fijian Non-Resident Ambassador to Kazakhstan since Fiji and Kazakhstan established diplomatic relations in 2012.
