Fiji and Samoa have reaffirmed their regional partnership on the back of the Pacific Finance Minister’s Meeting at a meeting on Tuesday between the Attorney-General and Minister for Economy, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, and the Samoan Minister for Finance, Sili Epa Tuioti.

The two men agreed to work together towards the goals in the Joint Outcome Statement signed at the Pacific Finance Minister’s Meeting, and decided to meet again to provide updates on each nation’s progress.

The meeting also covered the potential for greater collaboration among Pacific Island countries to market the Pacific region as a tourism package to boost source markets.

The Minister for Economy emphasised the importance of regional cooperation in advancing Pacific economies.

“Pacific Island countries need to deepen our already strong ties and work together to speak with a louder voice on the global stage and to grow our economic prospects. We in the Pacific face many shared challenges, and it is incumbent on all of us to collaborate and develop regional solutions,” he said.
