FIJI AND VANUATU TO DEVELOP COOPERATION IN SPORTS EDUCATION

Fiji’s Minister for Youth and Sports Mr Viliame Naupoto will sign a Memorandum of Understanding with his Vanuatu counterpart Honourable Anthony Wright at the Novotel Hotel in Nadi tomorrow (Wednesday – 23rd April).

The Vanuatu Minister for Youth and Sports will be arriving into the country later today, accompanied by the Director General for Youth and Sports Mr Williams Nasak and Senior Sports Development Officer Mr Simione Roqara.

The Ministry of Youth and Sports permanent secretary Mr Josefa Sania said that the “MOU is for the two countries to assist each other in the areas of physical education and sports cooperation and also develop mutually beneficial cooperation and exchange.”

“The two countries through the MOU wish to foster, promote and strengthen technical assistance in the development of sports programs and physical education curriculum and activities.

“There will be a regular exchange of sports delegation, experts, coaches and specialists, and exchange of information, methodologies in sports and technical literature.

“Teachers, coaches, and sports specialists of the two countries are expected to attend coordinated seminars, courses and scientific lectures organized in both countries covering topics in physical education and sports,” said Mr Sania.

He added that there will be more activities organised with other sporting bodies and institutions of both countries other than those under the respective government ministries.

Both the two countries will be sending their athletes to participate at the Pacific Games which will be held in Port Moresby, PNG from 4-18 July, 2015.
