Long time Sporting Administrator and Secretary General of Fiji's contingent to the 2012 Olympic Games in London Mr Vidhya Lakhan led a delegation to present their traditional farewell or i-tatau to His Excellency the President Ratu Epeli Nailatikau at Government House today.
Also present at today’s ceremony was the Chef De Mission Chris Yee, fellow administrators Nacanieli Takayawa, Lorraine Mar, Lyndall Fisher, Dick Elder, Josefa Vueti and athlete Paul Elaisa.
Ratu Epeli in accepting the traditional presentation reminded the delegation of their respective roles adding that with a small population like Fiji, ardent sporting fans here expect nothing less than a well earned victory.
"If you put in the hard yards, you will reap the results”, Ratu Epeli added.
The 2012 Summer Olympic Games will be held in London from 27 July to 12 August 2012, followed by the 2012 Paralympic Games from 29 August to 9 September.
London last hosted the Olympic games in 1908 and 1948 and more than 205 nations are expected to take part in 300 events at this year’s events.
