FIJI FIRST PACIFIC COUNTRY TO HOST ABU GENERAL ASSEMBLY

On the margins of Parliament, the Secretary-General of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union, Dr Javad Mottaghi paid a courtesy visit to the Prime Minister.
 
The Attorney-General and Minister for Communications also met with the Secretary-General to discuss the upcoming 2020 Robocon Event and the 2021 Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union General Assembly and Associated Meetings which will be hosted in Fiji. In their meeting, the Secretary-General confirmed that this will be first time that the Robocon Event and the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union General Assembly will be hosted in the Pacific.
 
“The Fijian Government is pleased to facilitate the hosting of both the 2020 Robocon Event and the 2021 Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union General Assembly and Associated Meetings. The 2020 Robocon Event will be benefit our young people both in secondary schools and universities and will bring university students from more than 20 countries in the Asia-Pacific Region together,” said the Attorney-General. “The 2021 ABU General Assembly and Associated Meetings is expected to bring about 350 participants from the broadcasting sector in Asia-Pacific and will be an opportunity for not only Fijian broadcasters but the region to participate and learn from each other,” he said.
 
The national team will be leaving for Mongolia this month to participate in the 2019 Robocon Event.
