FIJI GOVERNMENT ADVERTISES DIPLOMATIC VACANCIES

13/02/2012

The Fijian Government has begun advertising for positions for new diplomatic missions to be established this year.

Last year Fiji’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that it would open a new diplomatic mission in South Korea and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as part of its commitment to enhancing international cooperation and growth.

The ministry is now seeking the positions of ambassadors to be based in the Fiji mission in both countries.  The incumbent will be expected to enhance investment and trade opportunities for Fiji and strengthen current foreign relations.

The opening of these new missions enhances Fiji’s bilateral relations through its ‘Look North’ policy and will foster trade and investment opportunities with these countries.

The opening of the mission in UAE will not only mean closer engagement with countries within the Asian continent but also bring closer cooperation with countries in the Non Aligned Movement (NAM).

NAM member countries represent two – thirds of the United Nations membership and 55 per cent of the world population.
