FIJI & IMF WORK TO STRENGTHEN COLLABORATION

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) Article IV Delegation, led by Mission Chief Mr. Alasdair Scott, met with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Hon. Biman Prasad, today (21:03:25) to discuss Fiji’s economic outlook, key challenges and ongoing collaboration with the IMF.

The discussions covered key economic issues, including raising Fiji's growth, debt sustainability, fiscal reforms, and strategies to enhance investor confidence.

DPM Prasad welcomed the delegation’s insights and reaffirmed Fiji’s dedication to strengthening economic resilience. He highlighted the importance of continued IMF support in addressing global inflationary pressures, the rising cost of living, and securing climate finance for sustainable development.

Mr. Scott acknowledged Fiji’s progress in maintaining economic stability and commended the government’s commitment to sound macroeconomic policies.

Both parties agreed on the need for ongoing engagement to navigate economic challenges and ensure Fiji remains on a stable and sustainable growth path.
