Suva, Fiji | 19 June 2025 - The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation, Hon. Viliame Gavoka, is currently representing Fiji at the 55th edition of the International Paris Air Show (SIAE) 2025, held in Le Bourget, Paris, from the 16th to 19th June. His participation follows an official invitation from the French Republic’s Minister for Transport.
The Paris Air Show stands as a premier global platform that offers unparalleled opportunities for innovation, collaboration, and strategic engagement across the aerospace sector. It brings together thousands of exhibitors, industry leaders, and government officials to showcase cutting-edge technologies, explore new partnerships, and shape the future of aviation.
This year’s edition places particular emphasis on the aerospace industry’s urgent commitment to transitioning towards more sustainable and resilient air transport. Central to the event is a strong focus on decarbonisation, reflecting the global push to reduce aviation’s environmental impact through cleaner technologies, sustainable fuels, and innovative infrastructure solutions.
DPM Gavoka expressed his honour in attending the event, highlighting that the Paris Air Show serves as an essential platform for constructive engagement between the aviation sectors, facilitates the strengthening of trade and diplomatic relations, and offers a unique setting for governments and industry stakeholders to collaborate on regulatory modernisation and the enhancement of aviation safety standards.
“Tourism and civil aviation contribute approximately 50% of Fiji’s GDP. It is vital that we remain current with global aviation developments to strengthen connectivity both internationally and domestically, thereby securing the future of our economy,” said DPM Gavoka.
During the course of the Air Show, the Deputy Prime Minister will meet with senior executives from leading international aviation agencies and companies, including the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (France), Bureau of Enquiry and Analysis for Civil Aviation Safety (France), Airbus, EQUANS, and Aura Aero. The Deputy Prime Minister looks forward to the opportunity to hold discussions with the French Minister for Transport.
