His Excellency the President, Ratu Epeli Nailatikau today received the Vodafone Flying Fijians at Government House.
The Flying Fijians 15s rugby team presented their “itatau” of farewell to the head of state prior to their departure for North America as part of the Pacific Nations Cup.
While accepting the itatau from the national side, Ratu Epeli reminded the team that their preparations will be the main component in determining their performance during the Pacific Nations Cup challenge.
“Every Fijian will be watching the game and we expect you is to be good ambassadors on the field and during your stay overseas,” Ratu Epeli said.
Ratu Epeli added that team was fortunate to have experienced coaches to prepare them for upcoming matches and the 2015 Rugby World Cup.
“You have the best coaches that any team could ask for. This is no easy task as you know no match is the same. I don’t have any doubt that you can do well. People of Fiji have high expectations of you,” Ratu Epeli said.
Team manager Humphrey Tawake has also reassured all Fijians that the Vodafone Flying Fijians had prepared well and the nation should expect a great performance from them during tomorrow’s clash against Tonga in the PNC opener at the ANZ national stadium.
