FIJI YOUTH BAND TO FEAURE AT MELANESIAN ARTS FESTIVAL

The Ministry of Youth and Sports permanent secretary for Mr Josefa Sania this week farewelled members of the National Youth Band bound for the Melanesian Arts Festival in Papua New Guinea.

The 26-member delegation presented its iTatau to Mr Sania on Monday before they depart for the three-week arts festival in Port Moresby tomorrow.

The delegation consists of a dance band and a meke group from the ministry’s National Youth Band based in Valelevu, Nasinu.

“I wish you well in your trip to PNG and your performance at the arts festival,” Mr Sania said. “You will be representing the whole of Fiji at the festival.”

“You have been selected from other groups to represent the country, its leaders and your ministry and especially the young people of this nation so it is my plea that you perform to the best of your ability and with pride of your culture and identity,” added Mr Sania.

The Minister for Youth and Sports Mr Viliame Naupoto will be joining the Fijian delegation as a ministerial delegate to the event.
