Fiji’s High Commissioner to Papua New Guinea Esala Teleni presented his credentials to the Governor General of the Independent State of Papua New Guinea, His Excellency Grand Chief Sir Michael Ogio, this week.
The courtesy call was also an opportunity for the Ambassador Teleni and Governor General Ogio to discuss the special relationship between the two countries and strengthen cooperation in various areas.
His Excellency Grand Chief Sir Michael Ogio said that the relations between Fiji and Papua New Guinea started from the arrival of the early missionaries in 1876.
High Commissioner Teleni thanked the PNG Government and its people for supporting Fiji during the transitional period and the 2014 election.
PNG looks forward to welcoming the Fiji contingent to the Pacific Games in July.
