FIJIAN GOVERNMENT RECEIVES US$35,000 FOR NATIONWIDE WORKPLACE SURVEY ASSISTANCE

The Fijian Government through the Ministry of Employment, Productivity and Industrial Relations and the International Labour Organisation signed over a grant of US$35,000 today to assist in the rolling-out of the Nationwide Survey on the effect of COVID-19 in Fiji’s workplaces.
 
The agreement was signed between the Director of the ILO Office for Pacific Island Countries, Mr. Matin Karimli and the Permanent Secretary for Employment, Productivity and Industrial Relations, Mr. Osea Cawaru.
 
Upon signing the agreement, Mr. Cawaru thanked the ILO for their timely assistance and support shown towards the Fijian government during this pandemic.
 
Mr. Cawaru highlighted the survey will assist Government develop necessary policies to respond to the pandemic and will also help ILO develop employment-related programmes for its tripartite partners in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
 
He also expressed his appreciation towards the necessary support that the ILO will provide to our tripartite partners, the Fiji Commerce and Employers Federation (FCEF) and the Fiji Trades Union Congress (FTUC) to assess the impact of the pandemic on their memberships.
 
Today’s signing was witnessed by the Minister for Employment, Productivity and Industrial Relations, Youth and Sports Honourable Parveen Bala.
