28/02/2014

His Excellency, the President Ratu Epeli Nailatikau has urged all Fijians working in Papua New Guinea's capital Port Moresby to register to vote if they want to be heard in the next elections.

Ratu Epeli completed his three day Official visit to PNG today and said that registration was likely to start in PNG soon.

"Currently, the registration is being done in Australia and I am sure that they will also come to PNG so register if you want your votes to be counted," he said.

"Work has already started for the elections before the end of September and I urge you all to register and vote."

There are more than 600 Fijians employed in Port Moresby contributing to the workforce in civil aviation, education, mining, commerce and manufacturing.

The Fijian Head of State also urged Fijians to ensure that they comply with the laws of PNG and to be good ambassadors of the country.

Fijians living in PNG also took time to get an update on recent events back at home and sent their well wishes to the current Government.

His Excellency left Papua New Guinea for East Timor for a State Visit.
