FIJI’S HONORARY CONSUL IN HONG KONG CONTRIBUTES TO FIJI’S REHABILITATION EFFORTS

The Fiji Embassy in Beijing, People’s Republic of China in collaboration with Fiji-Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce has coordinated an assistance of $100,000 HKD equivalent to around FJD 25,000 towards Prime Minister’s National Disaster Relief and Rehabilitation Fund.
 
This support is mobilized in appreciation and support of the Fijian Government’s efforts to building back better in the aftermaths of TC Yasa.
 
The donation was received by Fiji’s Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China, Mr. Manasa Tagicakibau from Fiji’s Honorary Consul in Hong Kong, Dr. Desmond Lee.
 
Ambassador Tagicakibau, on behalf of the Fijian Government, extended his sincere appreciation to Fiji’s Honorary Consul, Dr. Lee and to the Fiji-Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce for their generosity and timely assistance rendered to Fiji.
 
He assured them that this kind act will go a long way in assisting the communities affected by the recent natural disasters.
 
He added this timely initiative also reflects the extraordinary partnership which, continues to enhance our relations and friendship into the future.
 
Despite the economic challenges faced in Hong Kong, Fiji’s Honorary Consul, Dr. Lee together with members of the Fiji-Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce aspired to put together funds for Fiji rehabilitation efforts.
 
Fiji’s Honorary Consul Dr. Desmond Lee, on behalf of the Chairman of the Fiji-Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce, Dr. Lui and its members and friends of Fiji in Hong Kong extended their heartfelt sympathy to all Fijians affected by the cyclones and hoped that the donation given would assist in Fiji’s rehabilitation efforts.
 
He added that as ‘Friends of Fiji in Hong Kong’ they remain committed to assisting and supporting Fiji in any way they can.
 
Through the Honorary Consul, Dr. Lee, the Fiji-Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce and friends of Fiji in Hong Kong, has previously donated to assist Fiji at the time of recovery efforts from the impacts of past Natural Disasters.
