The Fiji Islands Revenue and Customs Authority’s (FIRCA) new Electronic Payment Service will enables taxpayers to electronically access their debit/credit account to make tax payments from the comfort of their homes or offices.
Taxpayers who have bank accounts with ANZ and Westpac can register for Internet Banking or Telephone Banking to use Bill Pay services to make tax payments to FIRCA.
FIRCA Chief Executive Officer, Mr Jitoko Tikolevu said that Bill Pay is very convenient for the taxpayers as they need to login to the Internet Banking webpage using the account number/username and password and make payments from anywhere in the world via the internet.
“Taxpayers do not need to visit our cashiers and they do not have to wait in queues, he said.
Westpac Head of Corporate and Business Banking Peter Warnett was delighted to offer customers the convenience of paying their taxes direct from their accounts at their convenience.
“For us at Westpac, it’s all about agility! Customers choose the appropriate electronic channel that best suit their needs and since almost everyone has to pay taxes, we are happy to partner with FIRCA to offer this initiative to the people of Fiji.
ANZ Fiji CEO Norman Wilson said this service gives ANZ’s personal and business Internet and telephone banking customers the flexibility to pay taxes in a more convenient way.
“In addition to this new service, ANZ is also the designated refund agency for FIRCA’s Tourism VAT Refund Scheme (TVRS),” Mr Wilson added.
