FIRCA to collect Departure Tax

Members of the public, who travel overseas from January 1,  should expect changes when paying departure tax.

The Fiji Islands Revenue and Customs Authority advises the general public that this is in accordance with government’s directives stated in the 2011 Budget announcement.

FIRCA, national manager finance, Ms Emily Yalimaiwai said Airports Fiji Limited AFL previously collected the departure tax.

With the new directive, FIRCA has been tasked to collect all departure tax from January 1.

In a public notice, FIRCA said operators of commercial flights needed to pay FIRCA by the 15th after every month of travel.

Operators of private jets need to pay before departing the country.

The general public are requested to make payment in cash or bank cheques to customs cashier at all FIRCA office or the customs officer on duty at the baggage hall at the Nadi International or  Nausori airports.
