FIRST APPROVED EMPLOYER OF FIJIAN ORIGIN RETURNS HOME TO PROVIDE EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES FOR MORE FIJIANS

A former Fijian Citizen whose humble beginnings started in Suvavou Village in Suva, Fiji, was in the country earlier this month as the first Approved Employer (AE) of Fijian origin under the Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) scheme.

Mr Viliame Likusuasua migrated with his family to Australia in 2008. He started Pickers and Pruners Labour Hire in 2016 based in Waikerie, South Australia.

According to the Director of Pickers and Pruners Labour Hire, Mr Likusuasua, previously, he mostly employed backpackers in Australia.

Director Likusuasua kept pursuing his goal and soon Pickers and Pruners Labour Hire Pty Ltd became an Approved Employer under the PALM scheme in 2019.

They currently have a cohort of 12 Fijian workers on site who were mobilized in April 2022. They recently ventured into recruiting long-term workers with 2 active recruitment plans for 22 workers to be mobilized this month of which 20 to be engaged under the Seasonal Worker program while 2 will be engaged under the Pacific labour Scheme (PLS).

While in Fiji, Director Likusuasua and his family met with the Employment Ministry staff and discussed their recruitment plan for both seasonal and long-term workers from Fiji.

The Director National Employment Centre, Mr Lui Mario, on behalf of the Fijian Government expressed its deep appreciation to Mr Likusuasua for having Fiji at heart and for visiting Fiji to provide more job opportunities for other potential Fijian citizens in the near future.
