The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade congratulates the first cohort of participants who have successfully completed the Diplomatic Training Course at Fiji’s first Diplomatic Academy which was officially launched earlier this week by the Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade Hon. Sakiasi Ditoka.
The 3-day Political Economy Analysis (PEA) training facilitated this week by the Asia Foundation has equipped 21 civil servants with powerful insights into the fast-changing geopolitical and economic landscape and how it shapes smart, informed decision-making.
In a graduation ceremony held at the Academy, the participants were presented with certificates by the Head of Fiji Learning Institute for Public Service (FLIPS) Ms. Atelaite Rokosuka and the Regional Representative, Pacific Islands of the Asia Foundation, Ms. Sandra Kraushaar.
The initiative emphasised that diplomacy was far more than policies and protocol — and placed an emphasis on context, relationships, judgment, values, and national interest. It was about grounding Fiji’s engagement in identity, culture, sovereignty, and commitment to a secure and prosperous future.
The MFAET acknowledges the Public Service Commission, the Ministry of Civil Service, and the Asia Foundation for their collaborative support and for the collective vision in investing in this Academy and in the professional development of Fiji’s present and future leaders. This remarkable initiative signals a commitment to building strategic capability, diplomatic excellence, and a public service able to navigate an increasingly complex global environment.
The Fiji Diplomatic Academy will continue to invest in developing the next generation of leaders to strengthen Fiji’s diplomacy, leadership, and strategic capability.
