FNQF released to higher education commission

24/02/2011

The Fiji National Qualification Framework (FNQF) is now under the responsibility of the Fiji Higher Education after being transferred from the Training and Productivity Authority of Fiji/Fiji National University with effect from January 6th this year.

The FNQF was established under the TPAF Act to ensure that a greater supply of skilled labour, those that have the skills, knowledge and attitudes match the demand of our economy.

It has now been legislated as one of the regulation (‘Fiji Higher Education (Qualifications) regulation 2010’- under the ‘Fiji Higher Education Promulgation 2008’.

This new development has revealed a lot of changes taking place at the Fiji Higher Education Commission such as the partnership between a New Zealand Consulting partner the Polytechnic International New Zealand (PINZ) and the Higher Education Commission (HEC) which began towards the end of last year.

The partnership will be responsible for the development of policies and guidelines in accreditation and assessment.

One of the primary roles of the FNQF is to managed all the process of accrediting qualifications from the Training Providers registered under the Fiji Higher Education Commission.
