A delegation from the Fiji National University (FNU) led by Vice Chancellor, Professor Unaisi Nabobo-Baba, faculty Deans and council representatives, visited the President of the Republic of Fiji, His Excellency Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu, at State House today.
The President His Excellency Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu expressed his appreciation for FNU’s pivotal contributions to elevating the standard of education in Fiji ever since its genesis as the Derrick Technical Institute (later the Fiji Institute of Technology). He emphasised the critical role of FNU in shaping our future and meeting the needs of Fiji and the Pacific region.
The Head of State reiterated the significance of education as a lifelong priority. He stressed the importance of ensuring that education remains relevant and responsive to the evolving demands of society.
Professor Nabobo-Baba, also broadly outlined FNU’s development plans for the Northern Division, which aligns with the Vualiku Project spearheaded by the Coalition Government.
The initiative is focused on driving development in the North, with FNU playing a central role in enhancing educational opportunities, supporting livelihoods, improving the standard of living and fostering sustainable growth in the region.
The President commended FNU leadership team for their visionary leadership and steadfast commitment to advancing education.
