The newly appointed Food and Agricultural Organisation (FAO) representative and sub-regional coordinator, Dr Gavin Wall today presented his credentials of accreditation to the Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ratu Inoke Kubuabola.
Dr Wall has previously held significant positions within the FAO including being its representative to India and Bhutan and also held the rank of director for Technical Division at the FAO headquarters.
Ratu Inoke, in accepting his credentials acknowledged the ongoing assistance provided by the FAO to Fiji.
“FAO through its sub-regional office is providing ongoing technical cooperation assistance to Fiji including emergency assistance to support the recovery of agriculture livelihood systems of affected families in Fiji following cyclone Evan,” Ratu Inoke said.
Ratu Inoke expressed the Fijian Government’s support in cooperating with the FAO sub-regional organization on projects that would further improve the performance of the agriculture, fisheries and forestry sector in Fiji.
Dr Wall will be based in Samoa at the FAO sub-regional office.
