A total bonus payout of $758,000 was paid out to 343 staff of Fiji Ports Terminal Limited (FPTL) after the company recorded a net profit.
In his remarks, Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum highlighted that even though the pandemic and global and economic downturn posed numerous challenges on global supply chains, trans-shipping has increased by 29 percent, indicating that international shipping companies have recognised Fiji as a hub of the Pacific because of the efficient services that are available at our ports.
The A-G also highlighted the need for companies to invest in human capital, technology and equipment because that will in turn boost production and efficiency within the workplace.
Fiji Ports Terminal has invested $4.5 million for the procurement of additional container handling machines, consisting of two units of reach stackers and two units of empty container handlers.
