FSC RAILWAY BRIDGE IN BA CLEARED

The Ministry of Provincial Development permanent secretary Mr Inia Seruiratu is advising the general public that the FSC Railway Bridge in Ba is now open to all traffic and not the Moto Bridge as reported earlier.

The damaged FSC Railway Bridge was fully restored yesterday and light vehicles were cleared to access the bridge.

However, work is expected to resume today for the construction of a temporary bridge at the site of the existing Moto Bridge which was completely washed away. The temporary bridge is expected to accommodate buses and heavy vehicles as well.


Meanwhile, the Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) has reported that work is continuing to ensure that water supply is fully restored in affected areas in Ba.


Both the pumps at the Varaciva Pumping Station are now in operation and supply has been restored to residents of Vaqia.


Water carting will continue to areas  as scheduled including the Votua Catholic School.


Water has been  supplied  to  Veisaru Indian, Ratu Rusiate Memorial School, Ratu Filimoni Memorial School, Khalsa Primary School, Ba Methodist, Rarawai Muslim School and Namosau Mission School and water has also been carted to Vunisamaloa, Korovuto, Koronubu, Khalsa Road, Field 27, Navatu, Navoli, Tevoro lane, Mataniqara, Natutu Old Village Road and Varavu.


In Lautoka, work on the Buabua dam is nearing completion.


Water has also been supplied to affected residents in the Matawalu Village, Lovu HART Settlement, Vanuakula, Naviago Village, Tomuka and Johnson Road, Drasa, Teidamu and Tomuka.
