FVS REGISTRATION FOR RETIRED CIVIL SERVANTS

14/12/2012

The Fiji Volunteer Service (FVS) is seeking more people to register their interest with the organisation as Ministries, Departments and regional countries become aware of its services.

The Public Service Commission permanent secretary Mr Parmesh Chand, said that the FVS would like retired civil servants to submit in their expression of interests so that it can consider them for engagement with various Ministries and Departments locally and in the region according to their professional areas of expertise, skills and qualifications.

“With close to 350 civil servants retiring this year, they can continue to remain active by registering their details with both the National Employment Centre (NEC) as well as the FVS.”

Mr. Chand added that with the relocation of the FVS office to downtown Suva at the former Fiji Visitors Bureau Office opposite Fiji Telecom, service delivery to retired civil servants will be more convenient.

In 2012, the FVS has been able to engage 12 retirees to work in the Marshall Islands and 24 graduates and retirees for local engagement to various Ministries and Departments. Some of the graduates have since found permanent employment after gaining work experience during their voluntary tenure.
