The importance of feeding school children with healthy and the right kind of food was stressed to the Wailotua rural community.
And mothers, especially those in child-bearing age need to be given good and healthy foods by their husbands because of their God-given role as mothers.
The Ministry of Education deputy secretary Josefa Sania made the call while opening the new dining hall at Wailotua District school last Friday, June 3.
He said the two issues were key elements in nurturing children but parents advise from home and the word of God were important factors that made children these days become more responsible citizens.
The event was witnessed by students, parents, teachers and the community.
“Wainibuka is rich with vegetable, fruits and root crops, which the children of Wailotua District School are accessible to,” Mr Sania said.
“The Ministry of Health is campaigning against the eating of food that contribute to diabetes, high blood pressure and other non-communicable diseases people suffer from as a result of the type of wrong food they eat. We need to be careful about this.”
