Fiji Football to build relations with Brazil

30/09/2011

The Fiji Football Association has welcomed the opening of our mission in Brazil saying they will grab the opportunity with both hands to develop soccer in the country through a more closer relationship with the Brazil Football Federation.

Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama opened the Fiji Embassy in Brasilia, the capital of the soccer crazy country, this morning.

Fiji Football Association chief executive officer Bob Kumar thanked Government for its foresight in establishing missions and relations with countries that could bring with it a lot of benefits.

“We (Fiji FA) thank Government for its foresight in opening missions around the world which we can all benefit from and the opening of the mission in Brazil is something we have been waiting for,” Mr Kumar said.

“We can now grab the opportunity with both hands and explore how we can build this relationship between the two countries.”

Commodore Bainimarama, on the other hand, requested if Brazil and Fiji could start working immediately on this project.

“I know there is definitely one area that we can immediately seek your assistance in – our national soccer team has dropped several places in the world ranking,” the Prime Minister said.

“I am sure assistance from a few of your local club coaches would be most appreciated.

“We will now embark on a path of strong friendship and collaboration for the mutual benefit of our people.”
