A big congratulations to our Team Fiji at the 8th Pacific Mini Games (PMG)!!
As the Team rounds up the last day of competition, the whole nation stands in awe as Team Fiji takes the lead in the medal tally, bagging 32 Gold medals; a record gold medal haul for Fiji, as far as the PMG is concerned.
To the Team management, officials and athletes, the Ministry of Education, as the umbrella Ministry for the Department of Youth and Sports, extends the nation’s utmost gratitude over your outstanding performance.
This fete is testimony to the team’s commitment and hardwork; a thirst for success; and your struggles in the face of adversity.
What better way to celebrate FASANOC’s 60th year of existence and Team Fiji has brought good tidings, as Fiji is about to celebrate its 39th year of Independence on the 9th of October!!
Moreover, this win reiterates the Education Ministry’s message to our students, as they prepare for the upcoming examinations: that success does not come any easier, than plain hardwork and sacrifice.
With the Fiji Team winning their semi-final match against Tonga by 26-7 this morning, again, the whole nation extends its best wishes to Tanivula and his gallant warriors, in Fiji’s last pursuit for another Gold medal.
Since the 1st PMG in Honiara in 1981, Fiji has won the overall medal tally in 1993 in Port Vila and in 2001 in Norfolk Island.
The highest medal tally ever won by a Fiji contingent was in 1997 where they won 31 Gold, 31 Silver and 28 Bronze, a total of 90 medals.
