Fire destroys Sigatoka house

National Fire Authority (NFA) attended to a fire incident at OloOlo settlement in Sigatoka yesterday morning which destroyed a lean-to house and all its household contents.

NFA Sigatoka received the fire emergency call at 0845hrs from the Police and immediately responded. The fire crew arrived at 0848hrs and found the house well involved.

The firefighters used one delivery of three hose lengths from tank supply to extinguish the fire and the hot spots. Quick and skillful action by the NFA Sigatoka fire crew stopped the fire from spreading to the nearby houses.

The lean-to house 10m X 5m residential structure made up of corrugated iron and timber was completely destroyed in the fire. The house was occupied by Mr Jiten Naidu. No one was home at the time of the fire.

NFA is working with the Police to ascertain the cause of the fire.
