Fire leaves family of two homeless in Nausori

National Fire Authority (NFA) attended to a fire incident at Waidraso settlement in Sawani, Nausori (7 Nov 2009) which destroyed a lean-to house and all its household contents leaving two people homeless.

NFA Nausori received the fire emergency call at 1230hrs from the Police and immediately responded. The fire crew arrived at 1239hrs and found the house well involved.

The firefighters used one delivery of one hose length from tank supply to extinguish the fire and the hot spots.

The lean-to house 5m X 6m residential structure made up of corrugated iron and timber was completely destroyed in the fire. The house was owned by Mr Sanaila Rasekaseka.

During the time of the fire incident Mr Rasekaseka and his family were in the church which was located 1km from their house. NFA is working with the Police to ascertain the cause of the fire.
