The Ministry of Education has distributed food vouchers and Identification Cards to schools beginning with the Ra Education District.

Education Minister Mr Filipe Bole said food voucher distribution began with three rural primary schools in remote areas.

“The schools are Nasau District School, Bureivanua District School and Malake Village School,” Mr Bole said.

About 114 parents and guardians will receive food vouchers for three months with $30 per month.

Families, who are beneficiaries of the food voucher assistance scheme, have an average of two children.

“Next week the ministry will move to the Bua/Macuata Education District to continue distributing food vouchers and ID cards,” Mr Bole said.

“Parents are advised to put this assistance to good use for the benefit of their children.”

Parents whose combined annual income is $5000 or less qualify for food voucher assistance scheme.
