Food Processors (Fiji) Limited now has full HACCP Accreditation for its Frozen Fish Division.
The investment by Food Processors (Fiji) Limited will allow the company to have competitive advantage in the medium to long term by attracting niche market segments such as the local tourism sector. In addition, the company will enjoy market entry into new markets in Australia, New Zealand, and North America. Fresh reef and coastal fish species are the key products that will be exported.
Attorney-General and Minister for Public Enterprises, Mr Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum said government was interested at the quality of products of food processors because of its potential to create a positive impact on the commercial viability of Food Processors.
As a result of the accreditation, upskilling of workers has become a priority for the company to ensure compliance and adherence to the strict hygienic practices and procedures. The company has completed its first training conducted by the Central Board of Health. The training will be an on-going exercise to enable continuous improvement and excellence.
FPFL Directors and Management are confident the company will increase its business growth to 10% by 2011.
This latest development is the first step to achieve full HACCP compliance by 2010 for the company.
Food Processors (Fiji) Ltd is indeed raising the bar to give its shareholder a fair return for its investments. The company’s business strategy is strategically linked to the government’s private sector reform policies currently in place to increase efficiency, productivity and shareholder value for government commercial companies.
