01/09/2016

The Office of the Prime Minister has commended Fiji’s Embassy in Belgium for organising a fundraising drive towards the Prime Minister’s National Disaster Relief and Rehabilitation Fund for Cyclone Winston victims.

In a letter to Fiji's Ambassador to Belgium Deo Saran, the Prime Minister’s permanent secretary Mr Yogesh Karan stated that the donation would contribute to the Prime Minister’s National Disaster Relief and Rehabilitation Fund to help supplement the relief and rehabilitation work undertaken by the Fijian Government.

“I thank the mission, staff and families and the Fijian diaspora in the Netherlands and Belgium, friends of Fiji in Estonia, UK and Belgium including some of the ACP states and the Secretary General for the kind thoughts and donation of FJD$13,028.12.”

He added that the fund would be directed to help rebuild the lives of those directly affected by Cyclone Winston.

“Once again, please accept my utmost gratitude and appreciation for the generosity of the mission and the Fijian diaspora in coming forward to assist the Government in helping families who have been adversely affected.”
