The Queen Victoria School was presented with a new seven tonne Hino truck from the Ministry of Education to assist with the school’s overall development.
Ministry of Education permanent secretary Dr Brij Lal today presented the keys for the new truck to the school’s principal Mr Ilaitia Lewanavanua.
In his brief address, Mr Lal said that today’s donation comes at a time when the school is undergoing a period of development.
“I am thankful to the Ministry of Finance for allocating funds to finance this vehicle to improve better services in a boarding school with a large number of students.”
Principal Lewanavanua thanked government for this gift adding that “they had been waiting for some time since requests were made”.
This new truck will be used to cart supplies between the Ministry of Education and the school and for other general use.
Also present at the handing over ceremony was Mr Alipate Qetaki, the Chairman QVS Board of Governors and Mr Kini Kiliraki the President of the QVS Parents and Teachers Association.
