GOVERNMENT VESSELS HEAD TO SUVA FOR SAFETY

A strong wind advisory remains in effect for Yasawa and Mamanuca, Western Viti Levu, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands. The weather office continues to advise mariners to refrain from going out at sea. According to Government Shipping, all outbound vessels are aware of the weather warning and are taking necessary actions.

 

Government vessel Rogovoka 2 left Totoya this morning for Suva due to the prevailing weather condition. The vessel's original journey throughout the Lau group had to be called off as the weather condition deteriorated, and it is expected to berth in Suva at 2100hrs tonight.

Another government vessel the MV Iloilovatu is currently in Malawai in Gau. The MV Iloilovatu is expected to sail to Nairai island to pick up any stranded passengers before it head to Suva before the potentially worsening weather.
