GOVERNMENT WILL CORRECT PROVINCIAL BOUNDARIES - PM BAINIMARAMA

Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama opened the Ra Provincial Council meeting at Nanukuloa in Ra yesterday (26/10/22).

Addressing guests, district representatives and high chiefs of Ra, the Prime Minister articulated the development carried out in the province by the Government was an investment of around $74.5 Million.

“Out of this, over $27 Million has gone towards social pension programs, poverty assistance schemes, and disability schemes to protect those most vulnerable.”

“We have invested over $16 Million in grid extension projects to connect remote areas to the national energy grid,” said the Prime Minister.

“This, he adds, was never seen as a major priority until his Government came into power.”

“You have seen our commitment for yourself with the Waimecia to Navesau grid extension projects, the Tokaimalo grid expansions, and the Delaiyadua to Namarai community extensions.”

Prime Minister Bainimarama also assured the provincial council that Government will correct the provincial boundaries that were altered in the 1990s.

“We are committed to consulting with you and others who are affected by this as we have always done, we will do so in consultation with your communities as we seek a just solution.”
