It was an emotional day for the young graduates of Valelevu Youth Training Centre today.

The Minister for Youth and Sports, Parveen Kumar Bala reminded the 33 graduates, who completed Certificate 4 in Music Performance, to continue learning and explore ways to further enhance their skills and abilities.

“The Valelevu Youth Training Centre has produced hundreds of youth trained in the areas of Musical Theories, Practical music application, Physical Education, Sports, Culture and Customs and Cultural entertainment offered since its beginning in 1995," Minister Bala said.

He said that under the Ministry's network of five training centres across the nation, the Valelevu Youth Training Center has been commendable, with the majority of students who have graduated finding employment in the Fiji Military Forces Band, Fiji Police Force and Band, in the Fiji Prison Services, Secondary Schools as Physical Educators, Art and Craft and Music teachers, in the British Army, and hotels and other tourist destinations around the country.

“Utilise what you have learnt during the training to broaden the scope of your roles. Share your newfound knowledge and encourage others to excel in the modern era.”

He also highlighted the important roles parents play, saying that they are among the most important people in the lives of young people who have started the development process.

“Your dedication and commitment has truly paid off and I hope that all of you will continue to support this wonderful program for many years to come.”
