The Director of the Fiji Institute of Technology, Dr Ganesh Chand was today appointed to be the new interim Vice Chancellor of the Fiji National University (FNU)
Dr Ganesh Chand is also the Chairman of the Interim FNU Council.
The Vice Chancellor will head a Management Team which will look after the administrative and management functions of the university and will be based at the Fiji College of Advanced Education at Nasinu.
The Transitory Council also appointed an executive committee from its own members to facilitate decision making by the Council.
The colleges to be merged are the Fiji School of Agriculture, Fiji College of Advanced Education, Lautoka Teachers College, Fiji School of Nursing, Fiji School of Medicine and Fiji Institute of Technology.
