Villages of Malawai in Gau have commended the Government for its quick response in assisting them following the Prime Minister’s visit in May.
Mr Josese Rogo, the Turaga ni Koro of Malawai village says they were surprised to see the assistance for schools arrive soon after the Prime Minister’s visit.
This has ensure the construction of a new play ground and other maintenance work which is to improve the school.
Mr. Rogo says Government’s initiative in moving the country forward in all aspects of development and this is being felt in the rural areas.
Government also assisted the people of Tikina Vanuaso through the rural housing scheme and the construction of copra dryers to assist in their income generating programme.
Pillar 9 of the People’s Charter which outlines - ensure access to quality education for all and strengthen early childhood education especially in the rural areas and outer islands.
While Government is improving the lives of the people in rural areas in terms of infrastructure, it is also obligated and focused on the rights and the freedom of education as stipulated in Pillar 9 of the Peoples Charter.
