The Education Ministry calls for closer collaboration between parents and children, as we come to the last few days of the school break, before Term 3 begins on September 7, 2009.
Engaging families in children’s learning has a positive impact on student achievement. .Moreover, children who are close to their parents are less likely to engage in risky or illicit activities and are more inclined to remain within the realms of student life.
In this regard, quality time should be reserved for worthwhile discussions that border on students’ academic career- goal setting, revision plans, capitalizing teacher consultation hours and setting rules for free time.
For teachers, the Ministry trusts that necessary preparations for Term 3 are completed, and all would be ready for the final academic term for this year. Maritime teachers should make every effort to be in school on the first day of Term 3.
It is also hoped that school committees and managements would be rounding up repair works, renovations and the necessary cleaning up before next week.
