For the next three years, Government's focus will be on the economy however to have a strong economy we need to build the strong foundations of education and the need to provide quality skills.

This was strongly emphasized by the Attorney General and Minister for Public Enterprises, Industry, Trade and Communications, Mr Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum
while marking the 10th anniversary of Western Sydney Institute of TAFE and the Training and Productivity Authority of Fiji.

The AG said that quality skills is not only applicable to this time and age but also 5 to 10 years down the track.

"The quality of education of course must not just be education but quality education as we keep on talking about it and I think TAFE of course brings
that quality that TPAF requires - it obviously means that we have another source of quality education".

The 10th anniversary bought together the chairman and board members of TPAF, the Permanent Secretary for Labour Industrial Relations and Productivity and
the Director and representatives of Western Sydney Institute.

Mr Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum said that Government fully supports and encourages collaborations and based on positive end result would benefit all Fijians
and the economy as such partnerships make us a knowledge base society.

"The relationship between TPAF and the Institute demonstrates that not withstanding the various diplomatic relationships that we may have with the Australian government - the relationships of friendship, trade, economic cooperation and education have continued, they are continuing and they will continue and that is something that we will endeavor and we will ensure that it continues".

He said the Government firmly believes that educational opportunities, training opportunities creates a robust economy.

"It creates not just an economy that is robust -it creates society that is less prejudice and bigoted and a nation that is open to new ideas and I think that's really the key."
