Government liaises on safety of Fijians in Christchurch

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is liaising directly with the Fiji Mission in Wellington regarding the safety and welfare of Fiji Citizens in Christchurch City, New Zealand.

This follows the 6.3 magnitude earthquake that struck the city at 12:51pm (New Zealand Time) today.

The Minister for Foreign Affairs & International Cooperation Ratu Inoke Kubuabola advised that they would maintain contact with the Fiji Mission in Wellington.

At the same time, Ratu Inoke assured that the safety and welfare of any Fiji Citizen affected by the earthquake is addressed.
