The Government of Fiji thanked members of the Diplomatic Corp and former Heads of Missions for their continued assistance and support over the years.
“I also wish to acknowledge Fiji’s former Heads of Missions who had served successfully in our Overseas Missions since Independence,” said the Minister for Foreign Affairs Ratu Inoke Kubuabola during the first ever end of the year reception for members of the Diplomatic Corp and heads of International, Regional Organisations based in Suva.
“The Bainimarama Government would like to recognise, acknowledge and express its sincere thanks to our development partners for all your positive contributions and engagements over the past four years.”
Ratu added that we in Fiji were mindful of the significant role our bilateral and multilateral development partners played in complementing government’s national development goals and aspirations.
Ratu Inoke said the Peoples Charter for Change Peace and Progress had laid the foundation to realise a Fiji that was united as one people and strived for the equal distribution of the wealth of our nation for the betterment of all.
“And we would like all our development stakeholders to continue their support for this Government in rebuilding Fiji into a peaceful and harmonious nation,” he added.
“I wish to acknowledge the tireless efforts of our former Heads of Missions, whose contributions in our respective overseas missions are of great importance in laying the building blocks in our attempt at nation building.”
In recognition of their service to Fiji, having served with sacrifice, dedication and distinction, Ratu Inoke, yesterday, announced Government’s decision to confer the title of ambassador to them.
This comes with the hope that the foreign ministry can look forward to more engagement and consultation in the New Year and future.
