The Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama announced yesterday the decision of Government to pay for the bus fares of all school children between Class 1 to Form 7 that commute to and from school by bus.
Government will disburse to Ministry of Education the total amount needed by each school to meet the fare demand of each student.
The Government will continue this process until the end of the school year in 2009.
Government is presently considering a long term arrangement to address the bus fare issue for both adults and children in the 2010 budget.
