His Excellency the President Ratu Wiliame Maivalili Katonivere on Wednesday (27.7.22) made a Courtesy Call to the President of the Republic of Ireland His Excellency Michael D Higgins at his residence in Dublin, Ireland.
The visit by President Katonivere marks 20 years of diplomatic relations between Fiji and the Republic of Ireland.
On the same day President Katonivere visited the United Nations Training School in Dublin and was briefed on the Middle East operations of the Irish Forces and their strong ties with the Fiji Batt.
His Excellency also laid a wreath in remembrance of all the fallen peacekeepers in the Middle East.
The meeting and the visit to the UN Training school also presents an opportunity to reflect Ireland’s deepening engagement with Fiji, the Pacific Island states, and with other Small Island Developing States.
