HEAD OF STATE REVIEW PASSING OUT PARADE

116 new recruits on Friday (15.7.22) graduated from the Army’s Force Training Group in Nasinu and will be deployed in the coming week to their respective platoons.

Officiating at their passing out parade His Excellency the President and Commander in Chief of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces, Ratu Wiliame Maivalili Katonivere, congratulated and thanked the recruits for their dedication and determination that enabled them to be part of the ceremony.

“It is an honour for me as your Head of State and Commander-in-Chief to officiate as the Chief Guest and to review this Republic of Fiji Military Forces Passing Out Parade,” President Katonivere said.

“Military training is a process that intends to establish and improve the capabilities of both existing and aspiring soldiers according to the needs of any army. However, be reminded that those are part of the military’s shaping process to instill discipline, organisation values, knowledge, skills and desired attributes required of a highly competent soldier.”

The Head of State further stressed to the recruits that their passing out parade is the beginning of the rest of their lives and some of them will become officers while others will be posted as Regular and Territorial Force members.

President Katonivere also acknowledged the support of families, instructors and the New Zealand Defence Force and the important role of the New Zealand Defence Force in providing instructors to assist the training team.

Awards presented today by President Katonivere:
Best Platoon in Drill Award - Platoon No. 3 Commanded by 2nd Lieutenant Rusiate Dean Sailo.
Best Platoon in Barracks. - Sawani Barrack consisting No. 1 & No. 4 Platoon Commanded by Lieutenant Malakai Lakonailesilesi.
Best Platoon in the Field - 34964 Recruit Jovilisi Ravau Niubalavu of No.3 Platoon.
Best All-Round Recruit. - 34894 Recruit Jovilisi Bob Suka of No. 1 Platoon.
