An early morning visit was paid by senior officers of the Disciplined Forces, led by Army Commander, Brigadier-General Jone Kalouniwai, and Police Commissioner, Brigadier-General Sitiveni Qiliho, to wish His Excellency the President, Ratu Wiliame Maivalili Katonivere, a happy birthday at the State House.
Led by the Republic of Fiji Military Forces band, the officers assembled at State House and marched to the conservatory to await the arrival of President Katonivere before first light.
The Head of State, in addressing the officers, said he was pleasantly surprised by the gesture since he had only heard of such occasions and to be accorded one was quite a surprise for his birthday.
The President acknowledged the support of the disciplined forces and thanked all those involved.
