The Nuffield Health Center medical officer in charge has been demoted for late arrival to work.
Minister for Health, Dr Neil Sharma said the doctor had been stripped off his acting position and moved to work on rotations in health centers around Suva.
“For this specific reason he was demoted from his position,” the minister said.
“My office has issued a stern warning to all health facilities to put a stop on late arrivals. Failure to comply will result in disciplinary actions such as suspension or demotion of health officials.
“In a move to improve service delivery, doctors, nurses and allied medical staff will be disciplined if health centers do not operate according to clear guidelines or opening and closure times.”
Dr Sharma said punctuality in all health offices would be monitored and offenders taken to task.
“Standards of service are closely monitored by senior staff and administration doctors are also doing clinical work as mentors,” he said.
Meanwhile, all senior nurse managers have been advised to supervise junior staff in zones, districts and hospitals to improve dress code, discipline and customer focus.
