This afternoon (08/09/09), the Attorney-General’s Chambers acting on behalf of the Ministry of Education made an urgent application to the High Court seeking orders to allow Savusavu Secondary School to reopen.
Justice Pathik in the High Court granted the interim injunction against the trustees and management of the Savusavu Secondary school restraining them from closing the school or in any way interfering with the orderly running of the school, or in any way interfering with the principal and the teachers of the school.
The effect of the orders of the court is that the trustees and the management can no longer keep the school closed or prevent the principal, teachers, and the children from attending the school. The order now permits the orderly running of the school with immediate effect.
The matter has now been adjourned for a mention in the Labasa High Court for Friday 18 September 2009.
