About 35 employees from the Attorney-General’s Chambers and the Ministry of Justice visited and presented Christmas gifts to the children at the St. Christopher’s Home last Friday (18/12/09).
The group was led by the Solicitor-General and Permanent Secretary of Justice, Mr Christopher Pryde.
Mr Pryde said that Christmas was an important time and it was also an important time for children. He added that Christmas was a time to celebrate the birth of one important child, Jesus Christ.
He thanked the Management of the Home for allowing the visit by the Chambers and the Ministry of Justice staff.
Sister Kalo, who received the visitors, expressed their appreciation for the visit and presents. She said that despite the views of those outside the Home, they would always be grateful for those things that they had.
The staff of Chambers and Ministry of Justice sang Christmas carols for the children during the presentation of the gifts. Afterwards, the children then sang songs as well for their visitors.
The Christmas visit has now become a tradition for the Chambers and the Ministry of Justice. It started last year with Dilkusha Home. Staff members of both Ministries buy the presents for the children from their own pockets.
